About Crittenden Volunteer Fire Department

Crittenden Volunteer Fire Company, Inc was organized on May 7th, 1931. We were established for the protection of the residents of the fire district and the town of Alden, by contract and their property from the dangers of fire. It is also understood that the fire company may be called upon to render first aid and other assistance, during natural emergencies, as may be necessary for the preservation of life and property.

Our Mission statement is the dedication of providing public safety services to our citizens that result in improved quality of life and peace of mind. As a team, we will strive to minimize losses and suffering through emergency service delivery, public education, public information, and community service activities. We will provide our service and treat those we service in a manner that is honest, fair, and unbiased, We shall honor our heritage, actively participate in our community, and serve with integrity. We will endeavor to uphold the unique camaraderie and trust that is the Fire Service. We offer free training, retirement benefits, and a long learning experience that will never end.

How do I become a volunteer firefighter with the CVFD?

To become a volunteer firefighter, you can download one of our applications on our website or visit our firehouse during open hours. We provide all the necessary training and equipment, so no prior experience is required. Join us in making a difference in Crittenden!
 

What areas do you serve?

We provide fire protection and emergency medical services for the area between Alden, Akron and Genesee County, NY.
 

Can I rent the fire hall for private events?

Yes, our fire hall is available for rent for a variety of events, including parties, weddings, and corporate functions. Contact us for more information on availability, pricing, and how to book.
 

What should I do if I see a fire or emergency?

If you witness a fire or emergency, call 911 immediately. Provide the dispatcher with as much information as possible, including the location and nature of the emergency. Stay safe and wait for professional responders to arrive.
 

How can I support the CVFD?

There are many ways to support us, including donating, attending our fundraising events, and volunteering. Your contributions help us maintain our equipment, train our volunteers, and continue providing essential services to the community.
 

What do I have to do once I become a member?
 
  • Pass an OSHA physical (paid for by the Company)
  • Respond to a minimum of 10% of our calls.
  • Attend at least 6 monthly meetings per year.
  • Attend a minimum of 15 drills per year.
  • Attend NYS classes in Fire Suppression and First Aid
